Whey Protein Shake?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what kind of whey Protein Shake is the best tasting? I went out and got Perfect Zero Carb from a GNC store. I was told to have this on hand for after surgery. I have never had any Protein shake before and was hoping for some help. :confused2:

Wow, this is like the gazillionth thread on Protein shakes!

First, when using powder, make sure you get the whey Protein isolate, which is pure and mixes up with a spoon-- whereas whey protein concentrate has to be mixed in a blender and uses lactose as a filler. (and I'm intolerant! )

Everyone has different tastes--whether you want fruit flavored, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, caramel--the flavors are endless! But I get my IDS Multi Pro whey (in belgian chocolate--mixed with Water tastes like a chocolate shake!) from Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, books, DVDs & more They have all different flavors, sizes, costs, and some even come with free shipping.

I always tell everyone here--I find the canned drinks to be garbage and only good for convenience sake--but again, everyone's tastes are different. Do what's best for you--just make sure it's low carb, bud!!

DW and I have been using EAS whey Protein. Comes in vanilla or chocolate, 23 grams of Protein per serving. Mixes well with skim milk. I've found that using the vanilla flavor we can add sugar free cofee syrup(like they use at Starbucks) and make almost any flavor we like.

DW likes FRESH START liquid Protein energy shots better.

42 grams of protein in a 2.8 oz serving. 134 calories, no sugar.

It's kinda of expensive, but it goes down quick & easy(has a texture like softset Jell-o). I think the only flavor is wild berry right now, but others are coming. Check it out at Fresh Start Liquid Protein Energy Drink :: Most advanced Protein Drink ever produced for the Lap Band and Gastric Bypass lifestyle

gk

Just checked their website, new flavors coming soon: orange creamsicle and fruit punch.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
