Questin about # of appointments for 6 months diet???

Recommended Posts

Okay.... I started my 6 months of supervised diets at the end of October (1st WL visit) . I went the end of November (2nd WL visit), end of December(3), beginning of February(4), beginning of March (5) and will go in a few days April (6). Each time I go the next appointment gets put back a little more than a month, more like a month and 5 or so days. At my last appointment my PA said I only had one more visit. I though I had 2 left, one at the beginning of my 6th month (April) and then another at the END of the 6th month. So, my question is... on the six month supervised diet do peole usually just go at the beginning of the six months or do they have to go at the end of the last month too???

Thanks!

Shari

Shari,

It is my understanding that you HAVE to have 6 visits which document your height, weight, the diet regimen you are following as well as any exercise. However, depending on when you started, it may actually take you 7 months. I was really trying to clear this up for you but now I'm not sure I've cleared anything up! ;)

My advice to you is to write down all the dates you saw your provider, call your insurance company and let THEM tell you if you're done or not. Better safe than sorry!!

Good Luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
