Hi! I got my lapband August 2007. Have lost 45 pounds in the 8 months since then. I thought it would be much more. I did really well the first few months, but am really disappointed in how slow it's going now.

I thought that we were ideally supposed to lose between 1 to 2 pounds a week. You sound like you are about there.

Are you feeling better now that you have lost that amount of weight?

I will not be banded until the 16th so I really cannot tell you more.

I know that you will do what you set out to do.

Have a blessed day,

Nancy :huh2:

Hi! Losing 45 pounds in 8 months is definitely nothing to be down about! That averages out to over 5 pounds per month, so just over 1 pound per week. Not bad at all! From the research I have done, as I am not banded yet, indicates that you are right on track with your weight loss. Maybe you have plateaued and are just feeling discouraged? If that's the case, I have seen others recommend keeping a food journal in case you are mindlessly eating or drinking and taking in more calories than you realize. Also, to beware of liquid calories. Since we have to drink so much once we are banded, if you are drinking the wrong things, those calories could add up quick! Hope you get to feeling better soon. Good luck to you!

ok so i haven't had it done yet but i wanted to share with you how i look at weight loss.... i have never cared about if i lost a pound or two it was all failure unless it was 10+ lbs.. but then one day i bout 5 lbs of ground beef and cut it open and laid it on the counter...i was disgusted and amazed at how BIG 5lbs are. 5 POUNDS! I'm well over 100 pounds over weight and that was a huge pile of beef! now go to store and pick up the largest amount of meat they have and i bet it will be heavy and still be less than 45 pounds! don't loose sight of the fact that you are loosing it. it is leaving your body and does not exist any more. you are 180 quarter pound hamburgers lighter! thats allot of burgers! sorry about all of the beef analogies it just helped me when i had a physical substance to compare my weight loss to...and if your a vegetarian then you will be super happy about there being less beef...lol congrats to you and i hope when i have my surgery it will be as successful as yours has been.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
