Protein drink

Recommended Posts

I drank the pre mixed Protein drinks in the can they tasted the best to me and were the easiest. I love the Atkins Advantake chocolate Royale blended with lots of ice and a scoop of Peanut Butter, I beleive the Atkins cans have 20 grams per can. They did not taste chalky or bad at all..more like chocolate milk! I have heeard Unjury is a good Protein Powder , I never tried it.

Hi OkieJudy,

I agree with Michelle, the Atkins brand is very good - Ive had the slimfast lo-carb ones as well... and they are good too! Some of us make our own using protien powders - but I go for simplicity and rather buy a ready made drink!

Dr. Benavides has put me on Myocel two weeks prior to surgery. He is located in Richardson. Or you can buy it from Dr. Garwood in College Station. He had something to do with inventing it. It mixes pretty well with alot of things. I have tried orange juice an skim milk. You can add ice cubes and hit it with a blender to make smoothies. I know it can be added to yogurt also if you like. It comes in 3 flavors. chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. I have the vanilla. Just make sure it is blended REALLY well or you get powder chunks. Remember Orange Julius? try mixing the vanilla with OJ...yummy! oh yeah, runs $35 for 3.3 pounds of this stuff. Dr Garwood's number is 979-485-0395

I drink Amplify, from GNC. It is very good. I bought the chocalate flavor, and I mix it with milk, skim no fat milk. You have to mix it real well, to get the chunks out, I use one of those hand blenders. If you go into a GNC store, they can mix you samples and you can decide what kind you like. It taste just like chocalate milk. I still drink them when I'm hungry. Good luck.

I got the whey Of Life mix, the chocolate truffel is to die for. I put it in a small mason jar with about 6 oz of milk then attach my blender blade and whip the tar out of it. I have also mixed the chocolate with cold coffee and ice cubes MochaLoca!! If you are patient and add enough cubes the chocolate blast tastes like a malt. Yummmmmie!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
