Great Tasting Protein Shakes

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to everyone either entering this band experience or thinking about it. I had such a response to a reply I sent to another question that I thought I would just send out the answer on a new thread. I went to a nutrition store in my town and got the best shakes. It is made by Syntrax and they have wonderful flavors such as chocolate, vanilla, Vanilla Essence, Chocolate Truffle, strawberry Kiwi, Peach Necatar, and even an ice tea (but I do caution you, it does not taste like the sweet tea I was used to drinking everyday. My favorite is the Cookies and Creme. Anyway, many of you asked for the website...Here goes...

SI03 INC.... and the phone is (866) 333-7403. Now I will say that it is not a cheap Protein Drink compared to the ones I tried at GNC and Wal-Mart, but I threw those out because I personally thought they were gross and bulky tasting. These shakes make up smooth, have 23 grams of Protein so you are able to drink 3 per day and get in most or all of your protein and they taste good. I continue to drink one per day because it gives me the protein, is easy to make and drink on the way to work, and taste good. Good luck to all and I hope this helps someone or everyone !!

Harley-

I had a sample of the nectar Iced Tea sitting in my kitchen and decided to mix it in with my Crystal Lite this morning. I don't know if the sample was old (I only got it in the mail about two weeks ago), but it did NOT mix up well at all. When I went to take a swig of it, hooooooo boy. That was a mistake. It was like getting a mouthful of oatmeal in with my tea. ICKIES!!!:huh2:

I *so* wanted to like this stuff. But between the problems I had trying to get it to mix (I even went back and added some hot Water to try and get it to dissolve before finally giving up and tossing the entire batch), and the smell of milk from the whey, I think I'm not going to have luck with the nectar.

I still have one sample of the Tea left, but I'm really scared to try again. It really was that bad of an experience.

(I do have to say that I like the Muscle Milk Lite chocolate shakes though!)

Yeah, the ice tea does not mix up well and I did not think it tasted anything like ice tea...That is why I did add that in the original post. The others do taste really good I think...They are not bulky like that and mix up really smooth. I did not taste the ice tea one first and its a good thing because I probably would not have tried the other...I tried the Cookies and cream and the chocolate truffle. ::huh2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
