Good for you...keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. I had mine on Monday and it went perfectly. A little pain at the port site on the left but not horrible. They give you pain meds that help all that. Everyone told me to start walking right away to prevent gas pains and that really worked.....no gass pains.......Yippy I am so glad I did it and want to support any one out there waiting..I am here for you. I'm scheduled for the 26th and I'm so excited. People around me keep asking if I am nervous but I think this is a great new step in the right direction. :biggrin2:

How much walking did you do. I am trying to plan this out in my head. I am scheduled for Monday. I would appreciate any prayers. I am afraid of things that are out of my control like anesthesia and flying. - Paula

As soon as I got to my room and started waking up a little more, I had my sister help me out of bed and then walk with me around the med surg floor. I was a little dizzy so good to have someone with you. First stand at your bedside and get your bearings. I just tried to do this about every 1-2 hours. It is easier to move when you have some pain medication on board. As for the anesthesiologist,

you will have a change to talk to him/her about your concerns before you go into surgery. Mine asked me if I wanted a little relaxation medication and I said yes. Nothing like a little chemical courage. I really don't remember anything after that. The next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovery room. Say a little prayer before you go to sleep the night before and leave it with God. You will be fine. Look at it as a new adventure in your new life. I will say one for you too on Sunday evening. Best wishes and keep in touch.

efan82...my prayers are with you!

Thanks Beckn for the update and info....I plan to walk walk walk and say yes to the Verset (liquid courage!) I had it both times I had surgery...I said some funny things but at least I was happy going under.

They say the way you go "out" or the last thing you think of is what you awake remembering...So

THINK HAPPY THOUGHTS ALL OF YOU AS YOU GO INTO OR!!!!

My day is soon coming......WOWOOO

Happy times to all those this week!!!! YEA!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
