Hi, I am being banded on May 12th and I am very excited. I am only nervous about getting the anesthesiologist I requested. Sometimes even though you request someone you don't get your request. I know my surgeon is excellent I just want an excellent anesthesiologist as well.

Hey Beckn,

I got the big 100% egg white powder and mixed in a blender with Skim milk and a flovoring, strawberry, Etc ETC and splenda to taste. I would

also put a little crushed ice in the blender. the powder and milk are 30

Protein per 8 oz. cup. That use to keep me from getting hungry.

Good luck. Keep in touch.

Thanks Bob, but where do you find 100% egg white powder? Is that as good as whey Protein? I think the commercial poswder drinks are way too sweet for my taste so this might work out better for me. I also have a fear of losing my hair which is already very thin and fine. Last night I was craving something salty so I took a sip from the pickle jar....I'm deperate! Becky

I am now 11 days post op & I went to church today. Everyone came up to me & commented on the fact that I had lost weight. I feel really good. Only one sensitivity where my port is. This is the norm. Most people say their port area is the most sensitive. The other incisions have COMPLETELY healed.

I start on mushies on Wednesday. New step in the journey.

Ugggh! Egg white powder is just that. It returns to regular old egg whites when you add Water. The only thing I can imagine that makes it better than cracking an egg and using the white is that the powder is pasteurized so there is no danger of bacteria.

Now maybe if I whipped it up with a little sweetener and made meringue...add some crushed strawberries....hmm...maybe it's not so bad after all!

You can get it at a GNC store. Its about 45.00 for a large plastic jug, but it is so packed with Protein and you can mix any flavoring in to it and sweeten to taste. 100% powered egg white. It will keep you from getting hungry. Don't worry about your hair, if you loose some it will come back. The mcCormick strawberry flavoring is delishious. I know you will do well because you want to.

Good luck! Keep me posted on how you are doing.

Jena,

Make it with skim milk, add some McCormick strawberry flavoring, 5 packs of splenda and some crushed ice. Whip up in a blender and drink it. I guarantee you will think you are eating something your not suppose to.

Hi Bob, thanks for all the great information and encouragement. I appreciate it very much. I'll go to GNC Friday which is payday. Have you tried other McCormick seasonings. I wonder if they have cocconut and pineapple....pina colada time. Becky

Yes, they have all three of the flavors you mentioned. I use to love the coconut. Be sure to get the vanilla flavor egg white powder.

We're all anxious at times. I had my first fill 4/28 and then she gave me an appointment to come back in 2 months. I'm wondering why I should have to wait 2 months; you can tell in a couple of days whether or not you feel full. In fact, I think I'm going to give them a call right now. Talk to you later

I saw this online yesterday and tried it and it was sooo good. I am having my band in 8 days and have been playing around with recipes so I know what I like when I will need it. If you just google recipes for high Protein low fat shakes hundreds pop-up!

Double Deluxe chocolate Fudge

Mix one serving of chocolate whey according to directions. Then, add one packet of Swiss Miss fat-free hot cocoa mix and three ice cubes. Blend at high speed for 45 seconds and serve.

Is anyone else's kidneys hurting. I'm set for May 28th for my banding. On April 16th, my doctor started me on a Atkins diet. 3 weeks in and one week to go until I go on the liquid diet. I have been having pain in by middle of my back (down a little lower). I assume it's my kidney. Any advice.:confused2:

Thats happened to me before along my life long road of dieting. I always thought it had something to do with something shifting in my back as a result of my stomach getting smaller. Drink a lot of Water.< /p>

Good luck. I hope you feel better as you move toward your surgery

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
