Hi All,

I want to introduce myself. I was banded on 4/8/08 and am on my way. I am a bit sore although not as bad a I thought. My big problem would be the gas at this point. Comes and goes and I am currently on Pepcid, Gas X, heating pad, warm liquids and walking. I am hoping they subside in a few days.

Anyhow, even before the placement this experiece has had a positive impact. My first weigh-in @ the Dr was 383 and the morning of surgury I was at 358. It feels so good to say I am down 25 pounds!!!

Looking forward to great conversation in the future.

Regards,

Greg

the soreness goes away quickly - keep moving around to avoid the gas. congrats on the pre-op weight loss and a successfull surgery. you will be happy with this choice.

Yeah - if you feel gas pain, get moving. It helps with the gas, and it burns energy...

Welcome aboard!

I've been a "lurker" up to this point. I have enjoyed and learned a lot by reading your posts. I will be banded Mon 4/14. My son was banded 4/11 and my daughter will be banded 4/24. Dr Victor Gonzales will do mine. I started at 284 and after 12 days liquid diet am down to 260. I retired after owning a small company that did outsourcing work for American Express where I retired the fisrt time. I look forward to learning more from you guys in the future......Weldon

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
