NWWLS has support group meetings on the 2nd Monday of each month at 10:00 am and the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00. The topic this month is self-esteem and self-image. I have not attended one at NWWLS as it is too far, but do attend other local groups. I would like to attend one at NWWLS some time but they do not allow anyone not banded there to attend (or so I heard from another bander), and I do not want to make the trip alone at night. It gets over at 8:30 which means I would not get home until 10:30 anyway, and I have to get up at 4:30 am for work. I hear the group is an excellent one, and do want to try to attend sometime.

I'm getting banded by Dr. Michaelson @ NWWLS, on 4/17, so you'll soon be seeing me at the support groups (most likely the evening ones).

I try to make the Monday night ones. Give a holler on here if you'll be going - we can hook up and say hi.

Did you go to the one last night?

I went to an amazing support group meeting here last month. The topic was all about food choices. They even brought in a bunch of examples of food choices for us to compare. The night went great and I left with tons of meal ideas! The support system they have set up really works for me.

Oh, man! I completely forgot about tonight's, and I don't think my husband could make it back in time to watch the kids and/or accompany me. Looks like I'll have to shoot for next month's. :wink2:

Insurance is going great so far. I finish my 90 day dietitan thing on Nov 3rd. I hope to have surgery on the 25th of Nov. However they won't make an appt until insurance gives them the approval. I have my fingers crossed that they still have an opening. Last week I heard he had 3 openings on the 25th & 3 openings on the 26th.

Are you going through insurance? Who do you have? I have Aetna through Comcast. Comcast with switching to a Blue Cross national plan in Jan. So I really would like to get this done before than. Even though it is also covered under Blue Cross.

I have BCBS (Anthem) I am hoping everything goes thru right away. I was told they are a preferred provider. What is a 90 day diet? Was that thru the doctor or your insurance?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
