What are the side effects of your pills? I take Celexa 40mg even befornd and I did not get weight, and the surgon did not think it would be a problem. I would research those pills and remember it takes time for them to start working.

Good luck

Hi Slimmy

Ive been taking Lustral for a long time (I think that's sertraline). It can cause weight gain after the first few months because it causes carbohydrate cravings. Mind you the band restricts the quantity you can eat so that will take care of that. If your band is tight dont take the pill on an empty stomach at night as it can cause you to throw up (dangerous for your band). Instead take it several hours before you lie down and with food.

Thanx for advice will take before bed, will take with food mid morning, i remember couldnt sleep for about a week or so when was on them before, or that may have been from stress, and yes i did use to feel nausea that explains why was taking them at the wrong time. I remember i ever put on or lost weight cant remember now, but the cravings for carbs now you say i will be more observant and watch, do the Proteins and good vegie bits first or try try too. i cant remember if it was sugar as well, been on them 1 week and craving sugar, but may be because it is that time of the month.

I'm actually on the antidepressant Wellbutrin and it is wonderful. In fact, I specifically switched to that one, because it is one of the only ones that will not cause you to gain weight. I actually lost when I switched to it. Of course it's important to talk through all the pros and cons of each type of pill with your doctor, but maybe it would work out better for you? Good luck friend, I will say a prayer for you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
