First Fill Today-Almost fainted

Recommended Posts

Had my first fill today. I have a 10 cc band and he put in 5cc. Told me to stay on liquids for four days. I don't mind that because I am a little scared to eat now. He had me stand up and lean backwards to do the fill. Absolutely no pain but I got really light headed and thought I was going to faint. He had to set me down fast. I felt silly, I have never fainted before. I lost 5 pounds while I was in "bandster hell" so I was happy about that. I was even on vacation for a week during that time.

Has anyone else felt light headed when they were getting a fill? I also got a headache right after the fill. I don't know if that was from the fill or not.

Wow my Dr. has me lay on the table and places a pillow behind the small of my back to make my tummy arch sort ot speak and then he feels for the band and the port to be sure it is in place correctly and then I place my hands under the back of my head and he proceeds to do my fill. He gave you one heck of a fill you should be restricted and really dropping the pounds quickly I would think let us know.

I tried gulping some Crystal Light today and I could feel the liquid going down slowly. I could feel nothing before the fill. I am really curious to see what I will be able to eat and a little scared to try. I am glad he put in 5cc. I want to get to the "sweet spot" ASAP.

I got my first fill on Monday the 7th and I got light headed too! I usually do really well with shots and needles but when I stood up so he could use the fluorometry, one of my abdominal muscles started to jerk. I got through drinking the barium but then I had to lie down for a bit!

My doctor has me lay down also. I do like a mini sit up with my hands behind my head so she can fill the port. Never had a problem with any of my fills. I've had 4. I've never used numbing med either. They only fill with 1cc at a time up till 5cc, then .5 cc until you get to where you "live", which for most people is @ 6cc's.^_^

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
