Hi everyone. I live in Pensacola, FL. I am just starting out in the process of researching this procedure. I know my insurance company excludes weight loss surgeries.

I've looked around the forum and see there is a lot to read. I spent some time in the insurance and financing section. I also used the search feature. I wasn't able to find anything about the costs in my area for self pay. Can anyone point me in the right direction or has anyone paid for their own surgery in the panhandle area?

Congratulations to all who have successfully lost weight. I would love to be a member of that club.

I can see there is a lot to learn about the procedure and process so I will continue to explore now.

Hi! You might find someone who can help you in the Florida banders area on the boards. Also, quite a few of the self payers here have gone to Mexico.

Good luck to you and hope you find the info you need!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
