Yay, im sooo excited!!

i got the phone call today, that i got approved for surgery!!

im soo excited, and surprised that i got approved, because NONE of my doctors would write the note for me!! They all said, "Youre too young" or my favorite "If you want to loose the weight, you will"

so my suregon, Dr artuso, wrote the note for me, and after about 3weeks later, first attempt, I WAS APPROVED!!

i'm just really happy, because i wasnt expecting this

so, i have a question now:

after being approved, how long did you have to wait for the surgery?? A month...?? few weeks?? i'm wondering...

well thanks for reading!!

I went in to see my doctor for consult in late January. I got approved in early February and got the band on April 3rd. I guess wait time depends on how many you doctor has scheduled before you and the pre-op diet. Keep us posted. Let us know how things progress. This forum is a great place for everyone to cheer each other on.

I got approved January 7 and they wanted to schedule me 2 weeks later, but due to my own scheduling issues, I had to wait til Feb 14. Hope you get your date asap!

It depends on your doc to be honest. Mine is booked solid until July. I managed to squeak in on a May appt cause someone had JUST canceled a few moments before.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
