pvsa anyone?

Are they at the same place as the seminar? The Clarion? I might go..I think I'm going to wait til I get to talk with the docs first & get the ball rolling. I am changing insurance on May 1st. from Tufts to Fallon Select, so I want to figure out what they require (does anyone know?). I'll probably start going in the summer.

You need to contact your insurance and ask what the requirements are for lap-band. Each is a bit different, some won't cover it at all.

Hello everyone - just wanted to give my 2 cents.... I was banded on 1/11/08 by Fiallo - I agree he may not have the best bed side manner but he's a great doctor! I had to see Haag once (for an over fill:ohmy: ) and he was SOOOO NICE! So personable! But I like Fiallo, he knows what he's doing!! I am down just over 30 pounds since starting the process last year. I am down about 15 pounds since surgery. I am not losing as quickly as I want to. I think i'm half filled in a 10 cc band. I am going back for a fill in a couple weeks. I feel like i have no restriction at times. I don't feel full after I eat. I know it takes time, but I want it to happen now!!! Good Luck to all the newbies!!!! ANd as always any advice would be great! Thanks!!!

I was so happy to find this thread. I was banded by Dr. Haag on 1/24/08. I have lost 29 lbs so far and love my band. I have had two fills. Dr. Haag is great. When I first went to him my husband was so nervouse he really didn't want me to go through with it. But after talking with Dr. Haag he calmed down about it and was always like yeah I trust that Doctor. (he has trust issue with doctors stemming from when he was young) Anyway, I just wanted to tell anyone who is thinking about PVSA that they are great and everyone I've come in contact with through them has been wonderful in my journey. Feel fee to email me with any questions you may have.

Ohh, Dr. Haag is sooo nice! He gave me a HUGE folder of stuff to read (no time until school is over in two weeks:rolleyes:). Now I have to make a bunch of appointments.

I am sooo glad I decided to go with him!!!

I finally got to meet Dr. Haag. I had to have emergency surgery to have my gall bladder removed on Saturday and it was Dr. Haag that did the procedure. Really nice guy.

How was the gall bladder surgery. I have gall stones but wanted to loose some weight before I had it taken out so I had the lap band surgery first but was told that I needed to have it out before I had any kids. Are you still in a lot of pain from it? Hope you don't mind me asking. I really don't want to go in for another surgery but I don't know what it means if I go ahead and get pregnant before I have it out. I do know that I don't really want to get another attack, those are so painful. Dr Haag did my lap band so I am planning on sticking with him for my gall bladder, but anyway just wondering your recover time.

Babs- how are you feeling? It must have been so scary to have to have emergency surgery.

mtnihi- thanks for your feedback, too. I'm moving ahead with Dr. Fiallo, and I'm waiting for insurance approval. Keep your fingers crossed!

Meg- how is your journey? Are you getting all your appts booked? Who did you choose for your dietician? I LOVED Kim at PVDietetics.

emb- how are you doing? What stage are you on now? Are you feeling good?

Crystal- Hi. I have no answer to your question about gall bladder surgery and pregnancy, but I wanted to say hi :cool2:

Crystal I had no problems at all with the surgery or recovery! No pain. I have not even taken any pain meds. I simply had none. I was amazed. I was rolled down to the OR around 3:00 Saturday afternoon. I was back in my room by 7:00pm, sipping Water, hot tea, and broth. I was home by 10:30 am Sunday. Back to work on Tuesday AM. I could have gone into the office on Monday, but decided to just be lazy and relax for a day since I have time available from work anyway. But I'm here at work now and putting in full days and I'm totally fine. But I didn't take any time off from work when I got banded either. I had the surgery on Friday and was back to work on monday. I did however have trouble keeping most foods down the past few days and went in for a bit of an unfill. So I'm scheduled to go back in 2 weeks to get the fill put back in. I'm assuming it is just the swelling from the surgery that made me too tight. We will see!

Thank You babs for the info. I'm glad your doing so well. I hope the surgery goes as smoothly for me as it did for you. Never even thought about needing an unfill after due to swelling. Maybe this summer I will consider just having the stupid thing out. Again thanks for the info.

I am currently waiting to get my surgery date set up. I finished ALL the requirements 5 weeks ago and have called the office every week, twice a week, for the past 5 weeks and STILL have not gotten even a return phone call. I realize they have a busy office but I am beginning to feel as if I have chosen the wrong organization to go thru. Has anyone else had this problem or am I just being to impatient? I started working on the required steps back in December.:frown:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
