I am posting to let you all know about my experience with the Molding Clinic last weekend. . . IT WAS GREAT!

I arrived in San Diego on Saturday morning and was greeted by a driver holding a sign with my name on it. He drove me approx. 20 mins to TJ and another 5 mins to the Clinic. Where I was greeted by Andres, he was very welcoming, and sincere. Andres, told me how the entire day had been set up for me (tests, surg, etc.), and it went just as he said it would! I met Dr. Huacuz and the entire staff working with him that evening and it felt so comforting to have him explain EVERYTHING! And, then answer any and all questions that I had. Everything went as planned and I was pleased, I had some pain, but it was minimum.

I just wanted to share my experience with the Molding Clinic as I have lurked here for info about them. Would I go back? I AM!!

Most patients have excellent experiences in Mexico, but the number of "Nightmares" have been growing out of proportion lately. I went to Mexico one time .. Too many erosions and port infections lately added to the recent drug overdose - you have to be willing to gamble if you go to Mexico. Again, MOST patients have GREAT experiences... then there's the rest of us. I went to Mexico to save five grand, but I owe more than that in bills from all my Mexican related complications. If you're lucky at gambling, go for it. Be prepared for the Mexican cheeleaders though, because some people defend Mexican surgeons and get free fills for sending over referrals. Good luck to you. BUY AMERICAN! Woo hoo! (Too bad I didn't take my own advice.) Don't gamble with your life at least in the United states you can STOP a bad doctor....

You know what I find suspect about your posts? In one thread you say you had a horrible time, but in another you say your wife had a horrible time, then you throw a drug overdose in for good measure. Make up your mind and keep your story straight. It looks like whatever happened to you (if it even did haoppen) has thrown you into such a snit that you are answering threads that were posted to over a year ago. Mind you I am not saying that you should not post your experiences, but what do you have against Mexico or Mexican doctors with experience or patients who are happy with their doctors (even if you don't like them) or a surgery that can be had at an affordable price?

Where have you seen these "nightmares" documented? Where do you get your statistics?

Why do you say that American is always best? It's not, you know. I have lived out of the country and there are just some things we don't do as well as the rest of the world. No, I didn't live in Mexico. I lived in Europe. By the way, I don't get free anything from my doctor. What are you getting for what you are doing?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
