panic at losing weight

Recommended Posts

I have not had surgery yet but have been put on a high Protein low carb diet and have lost 28 lbs. I'm excited but at the same time having a panic attack at my weight loss. I am now fitting into regular sized extra large clothes and for some reason I felt nervous while buying my new clothes. Has anyone else felt excitement and panic while losing weight or should I be signing myself up for some major therapy.

I dont' think you are crazy at all. I know that for me there is always a certain point where I freak out. Not only do I plateau physically but also mentally. I think you need to take a look at all the things you will experience without the extra weight and and see if anything scares you. No matter how you look at it, it is change and change is scary. I guess to sum it up I would say that you are not crazy but in fact perfectly normal.

Jaylow, I paniced too when I went shopping and discovered I fit into "normal" size clothes. The only advice I'd like to offer is, don't buy too many items in the extra large size. You'll be out of them before you know it when banded.

Isn't it great!!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
