Intolerance to heat/does it change?

Recommended Posts

Although I am hypothyroid and supposed to be intolerant of cold, I CRAVE the cold and am always too hot.

I am not "flashing". I'm just always warm. Others around me just attribute it to being overweight.

For example every morning after I have showered, done hair and makeup I start persipring to the point I need a paper towel to dab at my face and neck for several minutes.

Is subsides about twenty minutes after I am on my way...but it always happens. I do have hbp under control with Lopressor.

Anyone else out there always hot? With or without thyroid troubles?

Did it change once you lost a significat amount of weight?

I always remember being like this.....but I have been heavy for more than 10 years.

Hi, Mary. I am always hot - since I started menopause. Not so much hot flashes anymore, but defiinitely sweating in the bajthroom and in the kitchen when I am cooking. I am hypothyroid, have controlled hypertension. I just attributed it to a "broken thermostat" for the past 6 years.

I am always too hot OR too cold. My comfortable temperature range seems to be very small.

I get hold flashes from menopause, but just being in the humid bathroom can make me sweat at anytime of the year, no matter the temp.

I do not have high blood pressure or a thryoid problem.

I too have the same problem but only around my face. Always have but it got worse once I hit menopause. I have an under active thyroid & high BP which are both controlled by tablets. I hate it when it happens because it's embarrassing when talking to people and having to constantly wipe my face with a tissue. I'll see if things change after I lose another 20 lbs.

I used to always be hot. To the point where I would always carry a fan in my purse for those times when it was unbearable. I don't have a thryoid prob.

I only had my surgery 7 months ago so I have been going through the winter and haven't experienced summery yet. However, I have noticed that I am more cold now then I used to be. A lot of my "insulation" has gone away

Hi Mary

I just wondering if you take an anti depressant. I have been on one called Tofranil (Imipramine generic name).

I a social event comes up and I get slightly excited, or nervous I sweat like crazy. I would need to rebath and redress.

My Dr. years ago put me on an antiaxiety pill--just for these occassions. It was a God send. I don't know if this is your problem--but the sweating is no fun and ruins the event. dicev

I don't expect it to go away. When I was thin I would sweat really bad from my head, just as my father does. When I would workout I would be soaked. I am the same now, 140 pounds heavier. I don't expect it to go away when I lose the weight.

I have been hot natured ALL MY LIFE...ever since high school. I actually used to joke with my husband that would I ever be one of those little old sweater ladies. Since I have lost 68 lbs with lap band, I have to wear layers or I get too cold. Definitely a change, but oh so worth it.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
