I had the Lapband procedure done 2 days ago and the gas pain is killing me. I feel it in my chest and between my shoulder blades. Any suggestions for the discomfort? I also have not had a bowel movement since the morning of my surgery, is this normal? Thank you in advance for any help.

Sorry you're not feeling well but it is normal. The one thing that helped me the most with the gas is walking. I walked and walked in circles in my house. Also those disolvable GAS-X strips were good. It will get better with time so just hand in there.

congrats. the gas thing does go away, and don't worry about the other end, it will happen as well. i presume you are on liquids only so not so much in means not so much out. and don't try any fibre mixes to soon, they may cause intestinal gas that is uncomfortable right now as well. walk walk walk walk, it makes the inflation gas recede. it only gets better........g2s

You've probably been on liquids for several days so there;s not much to come out of your colon and if you've had pain meds they can constipate you ( but some people also complain of the opposite problem). You had anesthesia which slows all your functions down and not moving much so this can affect your bowels.

It will happen eventually, but son;t expect much if you;re not on solids food. Also less in, less out.

The gas pain hurts., walking (movement) helps, some say a heating pad helped. I found that time was all that helped me. After about four days, I felt better.

Only time will help....walking did nothing for me but everyone is different...Gas x strips didn't help much either....the chewable ones were a little better.....laying down always helped with my gas pains and shoulder pain....I was good in a bout a week.
