What causes a port to flip

Recommended Posts

The very first time I went in to get a fill, they had a difficult time finding the port. I had to go to the X-ray room and do it that way. Every time I came in after that it was the same thing. The nurses told me my port had probably flipped and it would probably straighten out on its own. It didn't..... I went in for my fourth fill and they were unable to locate the port. I had to go back to my Dr and have him correct it. He said that normally the port does not "flip" but rather stands straight up instead of laying down. In my instance for example the port slipped back into the hole that it was threaded through..... The doctor said it wasn't anything I did, it just happens in a rare number of patients............

In the beginning I had some sharp pains at my port site. The doctor had said this was probably the stitches dissolving. this was of course prior to my first fill.

Exact causes are unknown...

Mine flipped, it came unstitched from the muscle.

Yep, thats why i was thinking best show the surgeon what happens when i move,so he can actually see it, but cant get in till late may, gosh long wait, but if i think getting alot worse will ring and talk to him over phone and see if he can fit me in earlier.
