PS in your 20's?

Recommended Posts

Another question! It seems like something new pops up in my head every day, but I just want to get a glimpse on what to expect. For those of you that had been banded and are in the 20ish age range, did you have to get PS after you lost most of your weight in order to get rid of the excess skin? Or did it kinda just bungee back? That's what I'm hoping mine will do anyway... lol. I know it all depends on how your weight was distributed and what a person's post-op weight was too... but any insight you guys could offer me on your experiences would be great!

I haven't been banded yet... I am in my 30s.... I have met a lot of banded people and believe it or not, it often is not how old you are that ends you up with sagging skin or not... depends on your genes and how your body is built.... I have slightly hanging skin since I was a teenager so I know I will most likely need to deal with it... depends though... I really don't know the outcome.... and I know those in their 60s that had this surgery and were quite large and did not have a lot of sagging skin... at least not enough to justify a TT.... anyhow.. hope this helps.

Like Randi, I am curious, how much did you lose? how much did you exersice or tone? What results did you get with return of skin to it's "original and upright position"?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
