Any suggestions on Vitamins?

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone! I am having surgery April 18th, I will be meeting with the nutritionist then. I was just wondering if anyone had any Vitamin advice. Right now, I take a Women's One A Day horse pill. But I know I won't be able to get that down after surgery. I've been looking at several different powder vitamin supplements out that you can mix with Water?

Just curious on anyone's experiences or thoughts....

Oh, that's a good idea. For some reason I forget that there is a lot of chewable stuff out there. Thanks! I'll go check that out.

I bought the Centrum liquid and could not gag it down. I totally don't suggest any for of liquid multivitamin! I couldn't even disguise the taste of it in oj or a protien shake I had to throw away the whole bottle witch was about $9. Now I take sam's club gummie Vitamins. I got sick of the chewable taste. The gummy vitamins are so good it is like eating Gummy bears. You will have to take 2-4 of the to get the right amount for an adult serving, just read the bottle though.

Hi everyone. I use Centrum chewables, but frankly, find it difficult to get them down sometimes. As for Calcium, I used to do the Viactiv calcium chews, but my nutritionist told me that's not the right kind of calcium. It has calcium carbonate and we apparently do better with calcium citrate. So, I switched to Citracal Creamy Bites, but am now having a hard time finding them. My new nutritionist agrees with the calcium citrate and has recommended Citracal Petites. Haven't looked for them yet cuz I'm still enjoying my wonderful bit of caramel twice a day.

You should check with your nutritionist about the type of calcium and make sure you're getting the right one.

My doctor recommended 2 chewable Flintstones. They are a "sweet" treat. I haven't had any trouble with them. However, I like the idea of checking with a nutritionist. Good point about the Calcium.< /p>

I started out on 2 Flinstones a day. Just changed to 1 Centrum chewable a day. They don't taste bad at all, of course I've only been taking them a few days, I might not feel that way when I get to the bottom of the bottle. I also added a Viactiv (I bought the target brand) for Calcium. Thanks for the info stefgray on the different calcium types. I had no idea. Thats why I love this place!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
