Help! I Have Been Throwing Up For 2 Days!!!

Recommended Posts

Good Morning,

I recently get a fill on my band (last wednesday). Normally after my fills I am fine I can eat whatever just small portions. Well after this fill I have not been able to eat anything. Well I just ate a pop sicle and it stayed down. But I can not drink Water or tea. I have the larger band which holds 10cc. At my last fill my doctor stated i am at 9 1/4. I am not sure if I should go get some of the Fluid out or am I am finally at the point where I should see some major weight loss.

Please help

Loveasy

If you can't even keep liquids down, you are definitely overfilled. For some people, the teeniest of fills can make a huge difference (me!). Please call your doctor ASAP and get in for an unfill.

Throwing up should not be seen as a diet aid! Throwing up is dangerous for your band and can cause slippage or erosion. You are supposed to be able to eat with the band. Call your doctor ASAP.

Hi there,

Just wanted to share my experience. I had a fill and was extremely restricted. The next day I couldn't even get Water down. Called my Dr. and he said just give it time. So I did. I figured he was right, it will calm down. Well...... went camping and it still wouldn't let me keep anything down. I would no sooner get it down and it would come back up. 4 days later, I was so weak, I was seeing things. Decided I better get some IV fluids. Went to the Emergency room and they wanted to admit me. I asked them to call my Dr. and he said to take in as much fluids as they will give me and get to his office ASAP. I took in 3 bags of Fluid in no time. Felt ok but not even 60 % better. Got to the Dr. and he deflated me. I felt instantly better as soon as I was able o get Water down. M color perked up with the water and my weakness went away after I drank a LRG. protien shake. The only things we came up with was between a fill and the flu I was closed up. My Dr. says everytime you throw up your stomach lining swells. Well after throwing up about 25 times I would assume I was swelled closed.

Now I have a new problem. I am doing the same thing today. I am under a lot of stress like some of the worst stress I have ever had and I am wondering if stress can also make your stomach swell and close. What do you think?? :confused2:

Yes, stress can make the band tighter. I don't know if it would shut it altogether, but it can certainly make you tighter.

If you are throwing up and can't get liquids down, you probably need to go in for an unfill until you are feeling better. (stress-wise and band-wise). Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
