Hi my name is Michelle this is my very first post here. I have been married for 11 years however we have been together for 16 years. I have 2 beautiful kids. Jt age 14 freshman in highschool, and Kayla a fourth grader.

I am 36 years old my I am 5'2 215 pounds. I have a BMI of 39.3. I have High blood pressure, High Chlorestoral. I was not always overweight. As a child I was actually underweight. As a teen I was average. I think what happen was 10 years ago I became a stay at home mom because my daughter was always so sick. That's when my weight went crazy. I lost 30 pounds breastfeeding then gained all of it back and some. Then I had a Total Hysterectomy, then my gallbladder. After all that the weight just kept coming. I am so heavy now that I don't even look in the mirror. My legs actually are starting to feel heavy when I walk. I just quit smoking a little over 2 months ago not by choice but because I was in the hospital for 5 days after having my appendix removed. I have gained 20 pounds since. I know that this procedure is my only choice. I have been on diets before and also worked out in the gym and could only get down to 185. Then it stopped I couldn't lose anymore weight so I gave up. I am not going to give up anymore. Reading alot of your post gave me the courage to call and make an appointment for a consult. Today I will be contacting the Insurance company which by the way is Empire BCBS and since it's through NY State United Health Care is with it.

What I really want to do is inspire my daughter who is 10 years old 5'1 and 120 pounds and she wears 10 womens shoe. She is predicted to be 6'2 but her body type is more from her fathers side. They are all very heavy but not that tall. I want her to look up to me and be proud of me for taking charge of the weight and not just complaing about it.

It will be very nice getting to know all of you. I will keep you updated with every step I take.

You have a wonderful attitude. Like you I have not been heavy all my life, the last 8 years is a different story however and I still can't believe I've more than doubled my size. I have nothing but positive thots and I think it's great that you are going to better your life for you and your children. Keep us posted, I'm new here by the way and also newly banded in Saranac Lake, bet ya know where that is, lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
