Lost 10lbs in one week on pre op

Recommended Posts

I made it through the first week my pre op diet. My doctor has me on 4 weeks of 5 Medifast shakes a day. When I came home and read the calendar it was actually 5 weeks (even though they said it was 4) which made me go nuts. Anyway I did not do it exactly by the book.

I did 3 shakes a day and one dinner, a piece of tilapia (100 calories) and steamed broccoli. I guess it was okay because I lost 10 lbs the first week. I know it is mostly Water weight but I don't care. 10 lbs is 10 lbs. I was weighed in on Monday and now it is Friday and I lost another 3 lbs. My goal is 5 by weigh in next Monday.

Good luck Alesha! The pre-op diet will be over before you know it and then it will be time for the post-op. Woo Hoo!! Keep up the good work!

Thanks Kathy, I can't wait until it is over. It is getting easier though. Looks like we might be getting banded around the same time. My pre op is 4/14. Good luck to you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
