 Hi Everyone! Has anyone had a problem eating chocolate or Peanut Butter since banded? I'm wondering if it is what's giving me terrible heart burn and/or gas? eek.gif I know I shouldn't even be eating it, but at Easter I just couldn't resist!!! OOPS! I never noticed heartburn or problems with gas before?

I was weak at easter and ate a bad for you treat, I felt really bad, but got back on the program right away. I have the low cal moose or Jello instead now.

it sure helps.

When were you banded? Have you had a fill? Is it possible you're too tight? Reflux/heartburn can be a symptom of a too tight band.

I have had Peanut Butter a few times with no problem, chocolate, I've only had one or two pieces at christmas, none since, but it was not a problem.

There is chocolate Dip that is sugar free and claims to have zero calories that helps me a lot. It is made by Walden Farms and I usually find it near or about the produce section of Shop Rite. It is not easy to come by but well worth the search. I add it to yogurt, coffee, fruit, etc. and it is good. There seems to be nothing bad in it but who knows-cannot read the words anyway-HA HA

It is very enjoyable and I hope you find it and enjoy it too. Be well.

Fran

chocolate can be irritating if you have reflux... might want to check with your doctor!

Fran, I checked out their website and they have a lot of products. Very interesting, I may have to order a few. Unfortunately they charge $8.95 shipping for up to 10 items. I don't know if I want to buy 10, but I may try a few. I have never seen these in my stores at home. Thx for the idea. Laura

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
