He's not my friend now. He was until we got into a huge political fight on Yahoo Messenger. It ended in him calling me some rather rude 4 letter and 5 letter words. Who knew politics could end friendships.

nothing is funny about these sick public displays.

i really hope all are properly protected tonight - and i never thought i'd need to say that.

Tonight, our kids are at a dress rehearsal for a play they're in. We're picking them up late in the evening. Sadly, we feel the need to be armed.

I am assuming you live in Orange County California from where you say your doctor is from. If you do live in Orange Country where I have lived for 50 years, where do you need a gun. A little dramatic.

I love it how now matter what I say, even if it's personal experience, I'm questioned or accused of something.

If you noticed, I said my kids were in a production. It's not in a very safe place. And I don't give a hoot where I am and whether or not the "County" is generally safe (last I checked, Santa Ana had quite a bit of crime, BTW); if my family's protection is at stake, I take precautions.

Why do you need to be armed? Isn't Orange County an affluent place? Do wealthy folks run about the streets firing on folks when they don't get their way? Do you have a Vote McCain sticker on your vehicle?

I meant no disrespect by my questions, Gadget. I was just curious is all.

I lived in a nice area on the border of a not-so-nice area when the LA riots happened. I will never forget that. Rioting is a very scary thing and spreads very quickly.

But to answer the question about Orange County being a safe area the answer is yes. We have some areas that are not good but overall it is safe. Much safer than LA. As far as affulent this county if full of million dollar homes. To say you need to carry a gun on an election night because riots might start is a little over the top.

Do we really need a good reason to be armed?... i believe that EVERY yes that right i said EVERY American over the age of 22 should be armed. That's just my humble opinion .... and so what if it happened to be right

You know if this thing goes that way - the way of fighting in the streets like we had in the 60s - I will hold John McCain personally responsible for conducting such a sleezy and rage inciting campaign.

That is too funny. "McCain says rise up and revolt!!"

A friend of mine IMed me today...(he's for McCain)...he said...if Obama is elected within a week or two he will be assinated. He said mark my word too...he scares me...

Eh, give the secret service a little more credit. They're very, very good at what they do.

Who knew politics could end friendships.

Politics and religion are the two biggest relationship enders there are.

Hells Yeah!! On this we agree. I think there should be government oversight / regulation over this (Like in Texas. I just got my concealed carry permit), but if everybody (uh, sane people, I mean) were armed, crime would go way down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
