No, that list is not a comprehensive look at Senator Obama's accomplishments. It was a quick study of an isolated period of time. It's not a brand new study, nor the whole picture. It was just the first thing I came up with on google that proved my point.

I doubt seriously if anyone here would be thrilled if I came up with some of the outrageous laws McCain has proposed, or even some of the nutty things he actually voted for in his career. We aren't wanting to discuss the merits of the "Keating Five" debacle are we?

BJean, that's where experience comes in. The Keating Five debacle happened early in McCain's political career when he was "green". McCain learned early on to avoid falling into the trap of associating with unsavory characters, but at least he had enough character to admit he made a mistake. That particular experience really helped shape McCain's political career from that point forward. No doubt in 10 or 15 years, Obama will be much better qualified to be the most powerful man in the most powerful nation in the world.

I understand your point. And you said it well.

But you can't deny that McCain is still associating with known felons - like G. Gordon Liddy. And unsavory characters like Karl Rove. I'm not sure exactly what he did learn from the Keating Five scandal.

P.S. The idea that Senator Obama is too inexperienced to be president is no less discriminatory than saying that Senator McCain is too darned old to be running for president.

Neither is absolutely true - but that doesn't stop people from saying those things.

The keating five happened when he was green?

It happend in the 80's. He is 72 now, so he was in his 50's and had been a Senator for years.

It happend in the 80's. He is 72 now, so he was in his 50's and had been a Senator for years.

McCain was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982, he served two terms, and was then elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, winning re-election easily in 1992, 1998, and 2004. While generally adhering to conservative principles, McCain at times has had a media reputation as a "maverick" for having disagreed with his party. After being investigated and largely exonerated in a political influence scandal of the 1980s as a member of the "Keating Five," he made campaign finance reform one of his signature concerns, which eventually led to the passage of the McCain-Feingold Act in 2002. He is also known for his work towards restoring diplomatic relations with Vietnam in the 1990s, and for his belief that the war in Iraq should be fought to a successful conclusion. McCain has chaired the Senate Commerce Committee, has opposed spending that he considered to be pork barrel, and played a key role in alleviating a crisis over judicial nominations.

When I said "green" I meant as a politician, the age is relative.

So if you are saying that McCain was green policitally when Keating Five happend and has learned from his experience. Can you give the same benefit of the doubt and say that Obama was green when serving on a boad with Ayers?

Of course. Clusk, review the threads. I'm not the one throwing accusations around. I respect and admire John McCain and I voted for him for those reasons. I've been a fan of McCain for well over 10 years.

Obama is still green.

re: " Because so far he has been one of the most effective Senators we have"

Name one legislative accomplishment.

LOL, so true. He had been in office 143 DAYS before he ran for president. And most of that time he spent casting "no vote."

Except that there's a HUGE difference between inexperienced and old. I'd take old and experienced over inexperienced any day.

Boy my dad was right one should never talk about politics or religion. Nothing can get the blood boiling than an opinion that is different from ones own.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
