Fill not working?

Recommended Posts

I was filled last week with 5cc's and since then I have gained 3 pounds.

I have read many posts where people say it sometimes takes several fills before you reach the "sweet spot" -- I just assumed that most people are getting 1 - 1.5 cc's at a fill. Is this not the case?

I am at a loss as to why I'm gaining. I'm not eating a bunch of garbage, but apparently I'm doing something wrong. HELP!

How much fill you need varies from person to person. You are a low bmi bandster it looks like -- you may find that you need a higher fill level to reach your sweet spot.

I'll give my usual advice. :bolt: Get on TheDailyPlate.com and write down everything you eat for a week or so. That means measure your food, so you are not estimating portion sizes. You'll be able to see exactly how many calories you are eating and decide if you need to eat more or less, or if you need to alter the ratio of protein/fat/carbs.

I know you're feeling discouraged to see the scale go up -- don't let it de-rail you. You can do this!

(btw, sometimes women see the scale go up 2-3 lbs just before that t.o.m. So it could just be that!)

No, sadly that was last week which is another reason I expected it to go down.

Thanks for responding and for the website - any help is much appreciated. I will definitely try it out!

Weight loss or gain does not mean you are or are not at your sweet spot. Evaluate what you are able to eat, both type of food and quantity and how long you feel satisified between meals.

Can you eat solid Protein? Does a 2 to 4 oz serving with a small serving of veggies keep you satisfied for several hours? if yes, that would be a description of a person's sweet spot. And yes, it should result in weight loss BUT it is possible to gain even at a sweet spot. If it is difficult to get the solid Protein down and you resort to softer foods or drinking calories then you might not feel satisfied long enough and eat again sooner.

Track your calories and protein. Avoid "drinking" your calories and then re asess.

Molly make a good point - your lower BMI might require more in your band than most & could put you in the "slow loser club".

I"m guessing the 5cc fill was your first?? Typically the first 2 are more than 1 or 2cc's then they tapper off to .5ccs in some cases. I required 6 fills & 8.5ccs in my 10cc band before I got to the sweet spot. It's an "Art" getting to that magic number - but when you get there, You Know.

As far as why your gaining - Shortgal covered it, the only thing I'll add is get in some form of exercise...This is the one thing that kept me from gaining while keeping up w/fills to get proper restriction. Also start measuring yourself - If your not loosing lbs, you could be loosing inches..
