Dr. Cohen's 1st Personal Diet

I was at the club and was accosted by a young lady in there about this diet. She said that she did this diet and it increased her metabolism/lost 30 lbs, ect. Sounded to me a little like the Dr, after the blood test, prescribed to her the south beach/atkins diet. Anyway, I guess a 390 lb guy on the elyptical does attract attention.

Has anyone else heard of this? Tried it? or do you think it's varience of the south beach. I'm thinking if it was documented to work, my dr would have done this for me.

I would have to say that almost every diet works...from Jenny Craig, to the cabbage Soup diet. BUT a diet is exactly what it is. When you are on it, you do well. The minute you go off you gain the weight back+. People need to go on a "life change" in order to keep the weight off; and the band is definitely a tool to help you change your life. :bolt:

There is a diet that's been around for awhile called the "blood type" diet. It is based on your blood type. certain foods are avoided and others base up the majority of your eating. Maybe that was it?

It sounds interesting, and I can see how analyzing the blood would tell someone certified what a person should eat more of or avoid... and the process at the end where they gradually get you to eating normally off the diet is a good idea.

But at the same time, it's also just another diet program on the list...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
