Hello - I'm Tina. I am scheduled for May 27th.

I changed my name from Seattleite to Seattlelight. Hopefully the new one will give me more inspiration! ;)

Ok, now I am getting nervous. Not about the procedure, but about some of the posts that I have been reading about people who are having little to no success with the band. I just read one this morning from someone who said that she only lost 2 pounds in 3 weeks.

I have to believe that these people are just not following the doctor's rules. It is my understanding that the band is a "tool" to be used in conjunction with healthy eating habits. If your head is not in the game, then you will not be as successful.

I say, "Let's show them" what success really is!!!

I know that I didn't make this commitment to not be successful....

If there are other bandsters reading this, PLEASE post your successes!!!!!

We must all remember that until you have enough fills to restrict you, you might not lose any weight at all... that is more norm. We are lucky if we lose before then. Each small step is a celebration and I do believe the more we follow the rules, exercise and DON'T find ways to eat around the band and take the time to heal properly, we will be more successful! I can't wait!

Good, I have 3 computers and tried all of them. The web site was slow on all of them. It's getting better now though. My daughter doesn't live in McKinney, she lives in Texarkana an drives to McKinney to work because the money is so much better. She's an RN and the top pay around here is around 22 with 2 years experience but she is making like 37 there. So it is definitely worth the drive for her. Yes she is gonna be here for my surgery. I just verified that with her today. I thinkill be having it at a surgery center, hopefully won't be there long. Are you getting excited yet? I'll just be so glad to be able to get around better without being out of breath and aching all of the time. Life is defitely gonna look up for all of us. We're on the right track.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
