angelface 1 Posted April 3, 2008 A similiar question was asked in another post but I wanted to hear from others so hear goes... I hear people say that before their first fill that they want to eat everything in site. I'm wondering... Do you feel the same unfilled (as no band at all), or do you still have to eat small bites and chew, chew chew or can you eat pretty much the same way as you did before the band. I'm asking this to people who have no restriction when they''re unfilled.

angelface 1 Posted April 3, 2008 Do you have to chew and chew and chew and take tiny bites or can you eat pretty much like you did pre-band, just a little less?
jrg1979 0 Posted April 3, 2008 I have to look at the scars under my shirt to remind me that I even had the surgery!
sfeiner 2 Posted April 3, 2008 I think that depends on the person (everyones stomach walls are different) The band..different bands give different amts of restriction without a fill and wether or not the Dr put any fill in during surgery. For me, I could eat just as I did before surgery until I had my 3rd fill. To get an honest answer to your question you would have to ask people who's stomachs were just like yours, had the same surgeon and got the same band. There are also other variables that can cause temporary tightness such as stress, flying, TOM, salt intake, dehydration etc. So, there is really no right answer to your question. angelface 1 Posted April 3, 2008 I just wanted to know what some of you are feeling with your bands. I know we are all different with different stomachs , etc. I just wanted a general idea .
jlobyxmas 0 Posted April 3, 2008 Several weeks after surgery once all the swelling had gone down and before my first fill I was able to pretty much eat anything, and yea I pretty much did..lol. I was kinda worried cause I thought, "what the heck did I do to myself and it's not working" For example I could eat pizza, but honestly, I think I may have had some restriction just from the band alone cause the difference was that before where I may have eaten two or three slices I was only able to eat one. After one I felt kind of uncomfortable. I did chew alot more though--was just kinda leary of screwing up the band. But I was able to take big bites like I did pre-band. Currently I am three days post fill and I can feel it, that turkey dinner full feeling after eating a cup of Soup. It kinda feels now like it did right after surgery when I still had all the swelling.
Candle 11 Posted April 3, 2008 (edited) I posted in your other thread - I feel exactly the same as I did before surgery. I never had any swelling after surgey either. My scars are the only proof I have a band - who knows, it might not even be in there - lol. I do not have limitations on the type of foods I can eat and I do not have to take small bites & chew well or eat slowly. I do think I get full faster but that might just be because I've lost so much weight. Edited April 3, 2008 by Candle
kbinaz 0 Posted April 3, 2008 I felt full faster right after surgery but after about two weeks I could eat exactly the same as before being banded. It was FRUSTRATING!!! But patience payed off and it has been worth it. Restriction is the key. Get your fills!
