Hi all. My surgury was April 1. I still have a few days til I go back to work. I have told some of my co-workers what I am doing for myself. I did a week of liquids in the break room with them. Most everyone seems happy for me. I do have a few immature people I know that think its funny to wave things(ie-chips, Cookies, chicken nuggets) at me asking if I want them. I can say no and thats not the issue right now. I am just wondering if I should just maybe have my lunch alone for a while so I can get past this liquid stage for the next 2 weeks. The first day post op my DH ate a big mac and a large fry in front of me. I am really not hungry much right now but I know this will keep happeneing. I am a stickler with being careful now, I guess I am surprized at the inconsiderness of others.

My DH did something very similar, but he knows better now. I've seen him standing in the kitchen eating ice cream so as not to upset me. LOL

I work in the same office building as my sister and we eat lunch together every day. However, when I was on liquids, I just couldn't do it. I opted to stay at my desk, drink my lunch, and read LBT. It worked out pretty good for me and I went back to having lunch with her as soon as I could have food.

Congrats on your band.

It probably really depends on you. I'm around a week on the post-op liquid diet and thus far it hasn't really bothered me (aside from an incident yesterday with German potato salad) to have people eat in front of me. Walking through the grocery store or going to a restaurant are a bit harder, but still doable, especially if I've got something in-hand that I can sip at (even if it is just water) to combat the munchies.

If you've got people waving things under your nose, though, you might want to give it a pass until the urge to shove the thing up THEIR nose passes.

I really like Suzanne's idea. I would sit at your desk drinking your shake and reading LBT for a few more weeks. Once you are mushies you should be okay to rejoin them. Good luck.

I am two years post-op and still sit at my desk eating my lunch while browsing LBT!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
