Thank you so much. I've been going crazy trying to do this. Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery. Mine is scheduled for July 17. Can't wait. I'm on my 2 week Optifast now. It's not that bad. I've had worse diets to contend with. Keep in touch--Pat

If that doesn't work, go to Home Page and look for "Suggestions, Feedback & Questions". Click on that then look for "how to get a ticker in your signature" Instructions worked for me.

Thanks again! I went to a siminar last night and found the truth about the Hair loss. Doctor said if you don't eat the Protein advised by the doctor then that happens. If you do as told, no problem with that. Does anyone worry about care after age 65 up? From what I understand the doctors don't like to treat or operate on persons over age 65. Anyone have news about this subjuect?

The doctors in my area are operating on and treating patients into their early 70's. It probably depends on their general health and risks of complications from the surgery. I am 66, and have had no indication I would not be a candidate for surgery and the followup care. One of the centers I contacted had an age limit of 65, but the others (3-4) were more lenient. My center of choice is reviewing my file at this time and I hope to hear this week about appointments with the dietition and psychologist for evaluations and education. My overall health is very good, for which I am thankful. I do have severe arthritis which should be helped considerably by the surgery and weight loss.

I do like this site and the support we provide for each other. Best wishes to all of you - we are making huge positive changes in our lives!

I got the date for my surgery today!!!! It's schedule for August 4th. This will be a early birthday present for me, as my birthday is the 7th. No cake for me this year. But, I would really rather have a healthier rest of my life, than a piece of cake.

What a great early birthday present. You may not have the cake, but in reality you can still Celebrate a wonderful birthday. Imagination is a wonderful thing. Congratulations on the start of a new life.

I went to the doctor yesterday because I felt like I had a sinus infection. Unfortunately, I was right. Now I am on strong antiboctics, and hope to get this cleared up quick so I don't have to postpone my August 4th banding date. I feel pretty confident the meds will clear this up in time. I would really feel bad if I had to postpone the surgery. I start the liquid diet Monday.

plevy How did everything go for you?

Hi everyone, I was banded May 21, 2008 and have lost 27 lbs. Had one fill on Jul 2. (2.5cc) I feel very little restriction. In fact, I can take my and full of pills at one time with Water, and I feel that my eating routine hasnt changed at all. For instance, last night for dinner, I consumed 1 cntry frid steak (about 4 oz), creamed potatoes, and veg were broccoli and cauliflower steamed and 1 slice of garlic toast. It is much less then I used to eat at a sitting, but is'nt it still alot for having the band. I quit eating when I started getting comfortable, but was wondering if this is normal, or do I need a fill? Help PLEASE!!!!!!!!! I am losing about 1/2 or 1 lb a week. Also last question, has anybody tried the Quacker Rice Snacks and are they okey on our meal plans? Thanks for listening and looking forward to replys. :)

sunshine when were you banded? and what is the size of the band. Some people have to have 3, 4, etc fills before feeling restriction. Take your time about fills, but when you are eating over what your surgeon wants you then get a fill in small incruements. The other question, if you are swallowing pills whole, are they a horse pill or a tiny pill? If horse pills maybe you should ask your doctor for a alternate like liquid or cold you halve the pills. Having pills sitting in your pouch could cause problems to the lining of the stomach (or so I am told).

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
