I was wondering if anyone out there that was self pay has had this happen. I am concerned of the cost of the surgery that it will take to fix it. I know all of the hospitals and Dr. charge differently, but I just wanted to get an idea of what I am in for.

My Dr. moved away and the only person I see now is retired from surgery and can't fix me. So now I am on my own to find a surgeon to fix this and I feel totally abandoned . I will have had my band for a year this may.

I know of two people that this has happened to and they both had the same make of band. In their case the surgeon sorted it out for them, but I also recall a rep from the company attending the second surgery.I wonder if you could have the same band! Is it maybe worth contacting the manufacturer and get some info from them.

All the best

:smile:Hi All,

We are going to have our second retreat July 18-20, here in TN at Montgomery Bell State Park. If you are interested you can go to losing2live.org and read all about it. We have reserved enough space for 75 this year, so if you are at all interested you'd better be getting in now. We had a great time last year and just wanted to get together and do it again this year. It's for anyone that's pre-op. post-op or thinking about having the surgery.

Hope to see some of you there!!

Hugs,

Tammy P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
