I was banded today and I feel really good. Not too much pain. I told DS it was nothing compared to natural childbirt. I have had a dose of liquid lortab since getting home about 4pm. My biggest complaint is my mouth and throat are so dry and nothing seems to help. I am really glad I did this.

Hi ThinMinnie! I, too, was banded today. I am amazed that I have no discomfort at all in my stomach area, but the whole right side of my abdomen is killing me! I know, the port area is the sorest, but I'm really uncomfortable. I had severe gas pains earlier today but thankfully that has subsided. I'm thinking about going to bed but I really doubt I'm going to be able to lie down without too much pain. Anyone else feel that way?

I am not sure how long the actual procedure took but they did take me back at 10:30 am for an 11am start time. I had surgery, went to recovery room, and went to xray for a barium swallow and was back in day surgery by 1:30. Seems like a lot to do in a short time so I am guessing the surgery was the longest part.

Freez pops??? I dont have them. What are they?

I am glad to know someone else banded on 4/2. I have more pain today. I woke up about every 2 hours last nigt. It does hurt-its just not as bad as I had expected. I had a breast reduction six years ago and it was much worse. Keep me updated on your progress. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
