Oh No... Easter Candy!

Recommended Posts

Did pretty good through Valentines, even handeling the day today candy cravings. But here comes Easter. And I LOVE Easter candy. My favorites are the little Hershey pb eggs... my mouth is watering just thinking about them. Actually any of the soft stuff is worthy of entering my mouth. And its only gonna get worst, Sunday hasnt gotten here yet!

Well, between yesterday and today my kids have brought home 3 baskets of junk candy. I cant seem to AVOID those baskets. Something is calling me, luring me to go 'dig' in them - like a giant magnet.

So, I need some guidence and direction on HOW TO AVOID THE EASTER CANDY...

I even weighed 3 pounds more today then yesterday from this crap! :)

Paula, you could always have an easter candy hunt in the house. HIDE all the candy and make the kids find it. You will be finding candy for years. SORRY!!

I really don't have any suggestions other than to throw away some of that stuff a little every day. Of course don't let the kids see you pitching it. LOL!!! They would kill you.

AMEN Paula. I'm sitting here struggling. I'm still on mushies and start soft Proteins on Monday. I've almost convinced myself that those marshmallow peeps covered in sugar are a MUSHY food. Yeah, right.

Just yesterday someone from my office brought some homemade chocolate chip Cookies (my favorite) to work and gave me a ziploc bag full. (Noone knows I'm banded.) I was trying to figure out if I could let them get really soggy in milk......UGH! I didn't give in to temptation. TELL ME THIS GETS EASIER!!!

The advice my doc gave me is this: Nicole, whatever your favorite pleasure food is, well---THEY ARE NOT GOING TO QUIT MAKING IT. So he told me to just give it up for one year. And then at the end of that year he swears that I will be so happy with my progress that it won't seem so appealing to indulge. Hope he's right. I got 11 more months of deprivation to go!

Good luck Paula. I love those chocolate covered PB eggs too.

I saw the word, "candy" and I couldn't get to this thread fast enough. I thought candy was for kids, but I dig the stuff! I feel like Homer Simpson, mmmmm candy!

Easter is this Sunday, March 27th...holy crap. I LOVE CADBURY BUNNY EGGS!!! Oh sweet pete!! My neice and nephew are coming over Saturday night to dye eggs and I made them a little Easter basket full of candy eat. It is ok for their mother because she has been too skinny her entire life. Like, sunken in skinny and it is just biologial not any kind of anorexia or something. She is also tall and blonde too. Did I tell you she is my step-sister? hmmph. Anyways those baskets full of gooey goodness have been sitting in my computer room calling to me for over a week and I have somehow managed to stay away. As it gets closer and closer it is getting harder and harder. I may need to lock the door until Saturday. I am picking my battles here. I may indulge in 1 little bit on Easter if I work out for an hour that day to burn it off! Crap, I'm gonna have to start working out when I step out of bed and not stop until I go to bed that night I have a feeling!!

"I really don't have any suggestions other than to throw away some of that stuff a little every day."

Or send it to poor DeLarla who doesn't have any babies or grand babies, so she doesn't have no stinkin' Easter candy. I'm a lil' jelly of all the goodies.

Nicole, my hubby LOVES those nasty peeps. Thats his absolute favorite!!!

Mary, DONT OPEN THE BAG - those things are addicting!!!! One, two, three... oops, the whole bag is gone!

Penni, you know, that's great idea - having the KIDS hide the candy!!! Ive already thrown some away (sweettarts, nerds) - they dug in the trash and got a few things out (cant believe Im telling the world about my disfunctional home)!

Terri, you can try the veggie/fruit stuff... but that candy has a way of getting into my mouth, regardless of how stuffed I am :)! Good luck.

Confession: I ate a piece of chocolate. I put it in my mouth until it melted to almost a liquid form and then I swallowed it just a tiny bit at a time.

I AM SO FREAKING WEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've only been at this a month and I've already cheated. Bad, bad daisy!

I feel incredibly guilty. (yes, it did taste like a morsel of heaven I'm sad to say...)

Someone please tell me that they have crumbled this early in the game and have gotten back on track and stayed there...

YUP Nicole: Crumbled and crashed and tumbled and gotten scraped knees and bloody knees then climbed back on and riding it out.

It is gonna happen from time to time. No one is infallible. And just think it could have been the whole bag or more. You ate ONE piece. That is an accomplishment.

Nicole! This is not a diet! You are not cheating. Be kind to yourself. You only had one piece, not an entire bag.

Darn, you peeps spoke to soon. We could have really messed with Nicole's head and told her she's the only one! Nicole, are you kidding? You, the only naughty one?

Pa-leeezzze!

But I just enjoyed a delicious dish of fresh fruit with a blob of cherry whipped yogurt. It was really heavenly, but it was NOT candy. (In your best Sinade O'Connor - singing to the candy) Nothing compares, noTHING COMpares, to yoooooooooooooou.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
