Has anyone used Dr. George Woodman in Memphis Tn. He is with MidSouthBariatrics Group. I would like to know your experience if you have been to him.

Dr. Woodman did my surgery just last week. Last Wednesday 3/26, to be exact. He is an excellent surgeon (I did my research before deciding on him), but his bedside manner leaves a little to be desired. All in all, though, I'd rather be in the hands of someone who's qualified rather than personable, so I'd choose him all over again. My surgery went off without a hitch and I've had no other problems as of yet.

Hope this helps!

My surgeon's taken on several of Dr. Woodman's patients that have left him because of his attitude towards them after surgery. Apparently, he expects perfection (or at least, bypass-level weight-loss) from his banded patients, and it isn't unusual for him to drive some of them to tears. He's a great surgeon, but from everything I've heard about him, his aftercare sucks. In fact, one woman I talked to said that her husband came into the examining room with her and nearly got into a fight with Dr. Woodman over the way he was treating her. If you aren't a very sensitive person, he'd probably be fine (after all, he IS a very good surgeon), but just be aware that he tends to have an attitude and isn't very personable.

Thanks for the info. Right now I am looking for the best DR. If we don't like his manner I guess we can always find anotherone after the surgery.

Who is your surgeon?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
