March MASTER THREAD 2: BAND HARD WITH A VENGEANCE

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to decide whether or not I want to get my fill.

So I'm pretty good at the moment. I'm watching my intake, occasionally stretching it a bit, but I don't think I've really gone over 1700 cals at my most extreme. And the weight is coming off.

Now I can eat or drink whatever I want, but I only want to eat or drink a bit before stopping. THis is exactly what I wanted from the band. I can have salad if I want to - uh, I think; I've not tried it yet.

So, shall I get my fill in two weeks?

Hey Fenton,

Well done! Sounds like you're going brilliantly! I think that if you're not feeling the need to eat your whole house, and you're having little bits and then feeling like it's time to stop, then the band is working for you right now, and you probably don't need a fill. But i would advise you to keep the appointment for now -- when i went from feeling restricted post-surgery to feeling hungry again, it was literally ONE DAY between 24-7 satisfied and ravenous. So you never know what will happen between now and the 14th.

Otherwise, sounds like you're doing great! I had stopped losing weight before my fill last week, but now i'm going again since the fill (another kilo this week). Phew!

I've also joined weight watchers, just because i like the support and the vibes of the meetings. Not sure why, it's just always been very helpful for me. Even better, now that I have a tool to help me along, the weight loss will be much smoother than it has been in the past!

Hooray for the band!

Annie.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
