Just got Banded on 03/28/08 and starving

Recommended Posts

I feel like I can take on the world and am sick of Jello/pudding and chicken Broth-scared to try anything as Jamba juice smoothie made me sick-what am I doing wrong? Confused as to whether or not Jello/Pudding is okay 4 days post op-but it was on the booklet my doc sent home.

Also traveling to NY this coming week-will only be 1 week post surgery and not sure what in the world I will be able to eat. Staying with friends so I think that will help-has anyone gone to eggs/mashed potatoes/beans by the end of the first week or am I trying to rush things. Should I stay on Clear liquids longer. Doc can't get me in for follow up until 04/15/08 which is 2+ weeks after surgery date. Any suggestions?

you may still be quite swollen in the pouch or band area, rather than trying the more solid foods. Maybe try egg drop/flower Soup without the veggies for Protein, take some quick and easy Protein shakes I personally like Atkins advantage or EAS myoplex lite. or mix mashed potatoes with thin gravy or broth. Cream of wheat thinned with milk or melted butter. My doc has a restrictive diet of Clear Liquids for 6 weeks. I have been pulling my hair out, and have tried these suggestions with no problems. I was banded March 18. 08.

Good Luck with your band!

Hi-I just got banded on March 25th and am having a lot of trouble today with PB-all I have had is Protein Water and diet jello-and I am sliming up every bit. What is going on?

Thanks, but I am not having any solid foods-that is why I am confused about this "stuck" feeling. When I am sliming up Protein Water, something is wrong.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
