Leslie from Leesburg Georgia - 8 more days until banding (4/10/08)

I'm 31 years old and worked for a brokerage firm for the past six years. Before that DH was military (Air Force). I have two beautiful daughters, ages 5 & 7, and have been happily married to a wonderful DH for nine years. I have a spoiled rotten cat, Lily - she is solid white with blue eyes. She loves tormenting the beta fish (named FISH - the girls were 2 & 4 - thus the imaginative name fish)

Hi!

I didn't count, but it seems like a lot of April Avengers are nurses/planning to be nurses! I too am a RN, spent 20+ years as an ER nurse, then got into quality and risk. Live in Wisconsin, married x almost 25 years. 4 children, 23, 21, 18, and 16. Two boys, then two girls. My oldest son is married, and my second son graduates next month from college-- BSN! We have 2 Pembroke Welsh Corgis (the ones with no tail), 2 horses, and a lop ear rabbit. And I'm getting banded in 2 days...April 8! Am very happy to be getting this milestone accomplished after several months of preparation and moving on the the next phase...hopefully loosing a LOT of weight!

Good luck to everybody and nice to meet all of you! What an exciting month for us all!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
