I am scheduled to be banded tomorrow (4/2) at 7:30 a.m.!!!! YIPPEE!!! My question is about driving. I hate being stuck in the house. How long before you guys were able to drive again? Also, what did y'all do while at home?

Unrelated question: how do i get my ticker to show when I post?

Congratulations on the band!!!

I got banded 3/14 ANd although I was told I could drive after a week, I still felt disconfort so I did not drive until last friday. I guess it will depend on how fast you feel fine to sit straight and turn your upper body slightly when you drive.

While I was home I slept a lot and I think that helped for my recovery, started walking around a little bit, and spent time cathing up in my reading.

For the ticker: you need to add the url to your signature.

Banded on Wednesday driving Friday. They tell you not to drive for 24 hours after anesthesia until it's out of your system, but after that wore off my doc said if I was up to it I could basically do what I wanted as long as I wasn't lifting anything.

Best wishes on the 14th it will be here before you know it.

I was just banded yesterday. My doc said to wait five days to start driving. He said you can start driving as long as you can brake without feeling pain and when you are no longer taking the pain medication. Good luck on your surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
