Recommended Posts

So I was hoping we could do this here. I need extra help. Maybe we could low carb it togethor? Since I am just starting this fresh I was hoping noone would mind me starting a new thread for it at my home VV. The other thread on the main forum is so large and intimidating. Anyone want to do this with me? recipes? Ideas?

I am supposed to be eating this way anyway so I thought I could renew my commitment (or actually make one) to low carb lifestyle now. Protein first, Veggies if room, and hopefully no carbs. ;-):puke:

This is what we've been doing at my house... A south beach diet.. low carb plan.

Sunday night we had Pork Tenderloin (bought one of those bags with the seasonings for it) and had real green Beans that we cleaned up and boiled (not the canned kind) and mushrooms.... it was fabulous and no carbs at all. We put the mushrooms on the tenderloin and YUMM!

There is also this crustless spinache/egg quiche that I make.. with feta cheese, onions and bacon bits added.. WONDERFUL and carb free... I'll have to find that recipe at home. My husband freaks out over it. He says it's the best thing he's ever tasted!

Hate to say it but I don't know HOW to live w/o carbs. Seriously I think carbs are why I am fat. I like sweets, but can survive w/o them....it is the carbs that get me every dang time.

It was my weakness too.. I could eat an entire loaf of french bread with butter with a thing of spaggeti! The quiche thing is very tricky because it seems like it would have the crust, but it doesn't. I do have some carbs everyday, but it's multigrain crackers now and not the other. I don't miss Pasta and breads as much as I thought I would.

For me, I could live without bread and pasta...I like them, but not in the oh-my-gosh-i-have-to-have-them kind of way. Potatoes on the other hand...I seriously believe I could live entirely on potatoes and never get sick of them! :biggrin2:

As low carb as I wanna be, there's no getting rid of them lol, so I just try and keep it to a minimum and have them earlier in the day and cut out the starches at dinner and in the evening like my nutritionist recommends.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
