PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter

Recommended Posts

I read about this on a couple of threads about Protein Shakes and others about can you eat Peanut Butter, but I wanted to share this with everyone who might not be aware of it. I just tried it today and it's surprisingly good! :crying:

Not quite as smooth and creamy (and therefore, fatty!) as regular peanut butter, but for the fat and calorie savings, I think it's worth it if you're a peanut butter fan. You mix it with a little Water till smooth (or throw it directly into your Protein shake) and use it just like regular peanut butter. It has 54 calories and 2.8 grams of fat for 2T verses 190 calories and 16 grams of fat for 2T of regular peanut butter.

I haven't seen it in stores, but you can order it at Bell Plantation - PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter - Home. Also, while they don't have samples, they do have a money-back guarantee.

Oh, the irony. I JUST got some PB2 last week. The difference in calories is definitely worth the trade off in texture. However, just add a smidge more Water, and it's creamier. Great for dipping apples and celery in! Haven't tried it in a Protein Shake yet as I don't do Protein Shakes very often.

It is a lot. However, I've showed it to a couple of friends of mine, and even mixed up a bit and let them try it, and I've sold 2 of my jars already. Do a side-by-side comparison with the nutrition labels with a couple of friends, let them sample, and I bet they'll take a jar off your hands...

I really just about wet myself when I did the side by side comparison with regular Peanut Butter. And that's saying NOTHING about all the trans fat in regular Peanut Butter, which is AWFUL for our cholesterol.

I've been using it for months. Good stuff. I haven't been all that creative. I just mix it in my Protein Drinks.< /p>

I received mine yesterday, and although I was grumpy about the cost, it is worth buying four jars. I can see that we will use them. Expecially at the great taste for the low cost in calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
