I hope this isn't too much information, but I'd like to know if anyone else has been experiencing this... so here goes...

I am on my pre-op diet now (tomorrow will be my 6th month) and I've been really trying to change my habits the last two months. However, within the last two weeks I keep getting these intense stomach cramps and diarrhea at night only. It's weird I know. I was "googling" it to see what it could be and some sites it stated this can happen from a larger in-take of Water and change in eating habits. I have almost quadrupled the amount of water I drink, but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. Ugh... I feel so bad at night 3-4/week.

Just curious...TMI?? Thanks!

So, what exactly has changed in the past two weeks in your diet? Is that when you started drinking more Water? Have you added anything with artificial sweetener? More Fiber? Less fiber? Anything you can think of that you're drinking or eating, or not drinking or eating just in the past two weeks that's different from before?

I don't even need that sugar alternative to give me symptoms like mrsgriffin2u. Splenda alone is enough to make me sick, and it usually doesn't happen until a few hours after I eat/drink something with splenda.

A few more thoughts are: If you've switched to liquids your stomach could be making more acid than it needs upsetting it, or if you had solids mixed in with your liquids occasionally your body could be complaining.

For me, going mostly to liquids meant that I started drinking more dairy based products, which are hard for my digestive system to handle. I definitely suggest a food diary to keep an eye on it.

Good luck ! Hope you're feeling better soon !

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
