I am 1 week post op & have all theses wierd feelings going on in my stomach. I'm finding it hard to figure out which is which. I have this heavy pain in the middle of my rib cage almost all the time, I have these terrible gas pains & I think my stomach is growling. Is this all normal??

Could be, except for the heavy pain. Is that where your port was paoced, or the site of another incision? In other words, any reason you could share with us as to what might be related to the pain?

When you say "figure out which is which" -- which what is what? Do you just mean figure out what the feelings are? It's very common to gurgle post-op, which could be confused for hunger pains but feel nothing like them. If you feel hungry, you're probably feeling hungry (whether you really are or not). Try sipping some Water or if you're there yet, some Protein (fills you up longer) and see what happens.

I was banded the same day (3/24) - I am doing pretty good except the last couple of days I have noticed more soreness in the port area. My port location is in between breasts down amount 2 inches. Wearing a bra is a killer - had to go buy a soft, open down the front bra. I guess the pain, if I had to describe it, feeling like a "pulling, tugging" feeling.

I've got similar feelings - got banded last Tuesday. I've had a heavy feeling in the middle of my chest which I attribute to gas. When I burp it disappears and then builds up again after a while. I'm a champion burper at the moment. It comes up with no control on my part. Sometimes it gurgles up and I have to be careful not to accidently burp in front of clients. :cursing:

o my god, I put a bra on the other day & I thought I was gonna die, it hurt so bad. I just hate all these things rumbling in my stomach, it's so uncomfortable. Today I do feel a little better & i don't have the pain in my chest.

Take it easy, they moved your internal organs around a bit.

It will all go away in a couple of days.

I am at almost two weeks and the pains you feel, I felt, but they will go away.

Watch your portions and amounts. keep it small.

You can always have a little more than eating too much to begin with.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
