I never thought that it would happen but my surgery is finally scheduled for April 10th. All I have to do is my nuclear stress test. Has anyone had that? Any last words of advice. I am nervous a little but it still doesn't seem real!!:cursing:

Congrats on your band date...nope i have never heard of a nuclear stress test..U know the place where I am going to have my procedure done at I don't think have u to doo all of the jumping hoops... i know that some or most of the test are valid but other test they have people take just seem like they are trying to get as much $$$$$ from your insurance as possiable.. Thats why most people prob. get denied.. but not to change the subject congrats.... what does the nuclear stress test consist of?

:smile2:I am scheduled at 1:30 in afternoon. I am looking forward to this after 8 months.

I have been on my liquid diet 5 days and have lost 5 lbs. If i don't think about the 10 days I am fine. I would love SOMETHING TO EAT.

How long was your pre-surg liquid diets?

:thumbup:I have had several (I am 64). You did not say whether or not it would be a chemical or a physical test. By that I mean are they going to stress your heart withe medicine or by making you walk on a treadmill. If it is a chemical test, you may feel a little weird for a few minutes but it is not really uncomfortable. What was the biggest pain in the tush for me was the scan before and after your heart is stressed. You lie on the table and the scanner takes about 15 minutes to scan you. You have to lie still with your hands over your head and the scanner moves a couple of inches every 30 seconds or so until it is completed. As I said, this is done before they stress your heart and then again after.

I hope this helps. It is not a painful procedure, just a tedious one.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
