Good, Bad, Ugly & Honest

Is the PBing really bad? Do you just learn to avoid it by chewing well and not overeating, or is it something that is just a minor annoyance. Also what about the Slimeing, is that an everyday event? Or is it something that is very unpleasant and to be avoided? To me I imagine slimeing as how your mouth starts watering right before throwing up.

Honestly, I haven't PB'ed yet. When you have the right restriction.. not too tight.. not too open, I don't think it's normal to have PB's. Mine is opened enough for me to be able to eat pork tenderloin, tuna, and chicken, but tight enough for me to lose weight. I did slime once the day after I was banded and drank too fast. My mouth just watered and it's like how you describe.. when you Water in your mouth and feel like you have to throw up, but it passed quickly. I wish we called it "watering" instead of "sliming".

I have my 1st appt. in 3 hours. I have to find a way to hide about 5 rolls of quarters somewhere on my body - I'm about 5 lbs short!!! I have to make myself laugh or I may start to cry!!!

Wear like a big sweater with two shirts under it and some heavy jeans and boots. Heavy necklace and earrings... Just something light adds almost 2 pounds... something heavy should do the trick.

I have the same problem. In order for my insurance to pay, I was told I needed to be 5 pounds heavier. It just feels so wrong to try to GAIN weight. I've never been in this position before.

It hasn't come to pass, they won't let me weigh in again until after the 18th to check. I guess it would look suspicious if I gained 5 pounds too quickly, but I will definitely let you know how it turns out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
