No loss after 2wks at the gym

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone knows if it is normal to stay at a plateau after 2 weeks of majorly working out at the gym or is my body just being super difficult. I have worked out burning 600 cals a day for 6 days each week, I also started doing weights, squats and crunches.

I feel like my body really doesn't want me to see the 100's!

I am so frustrated right now ....I am almost (but not going to) throw in the towel. I just started crying after stepping off the scale today.

Any words of advice or encouragment:crying:?

If you haven't already - start taking your measurements. I find when the scale is pesky the tape measure is my friend, I also go into my spare bdrm closet and try on some of my smaller jeans & see how they fit.

Don't give up the gym, I think we all have scale plateaus, however with working out consistently, you'll see inches disappearing which helps you stay motivated...

I agree do the measuring tape. It sounds like you may be gaining muscle which can cause you not to lose but tone and the measuring tape should show that.

Hi,

I have found since the band i tend to retain Fluid a lot more, i think its because the body gets less food for the muscles and likes to hold the fluid or something, lol i know im nuts!

Thing is, if you dont drink enough Water when you up the exercise your body retains what is has so your muscles dont cramp. I personally find it really hard to drink enough water during the day because my stomach is so small but i try for 3 litres when i do that kind of exercise.

Also, depending on where you are in your weight loss you may be on a plateau.

Have faith it will happen

Thanks for your responces...I just checked the measurements and YESSSSS!!! You were totally right! I guess I was just consumed on how miserable I was about not losing that I didn't think to check my measurements. wow, I went from a 52 and 1/2" waist to 48!!!!

I will also focus on drinking more Water. I agree with you about the retaining of water.....doesn't sound crazy at all.

I really needed a pick me up today and now this has made the day!

I have had this issue too. My weight has been pretty constant for awhile now, but I am losing inches. It is all a good thing. Listed below is also a post I found on plateaus.

The Perils of Plateaus

Every once in a while, you just stop losing weight. Try as you might, a week passes by, maybe two, but the needles on your scale is simply stuck. You’re on a plateau. Being on a plateau is like, pulling your car off the road, on your way down the mountain, and stopping to take a look. Please look back at the peak, to see how far you’ve come in your journey. Take a breather, sit and enjoy, and recognize that you will get started back on your journey down the mountain, with time.

It’s important to note that, often, while you may not be losing weight, you may still be losing inches. If your overall goal is better health and better looks, that’s still a good thing. Overall inches may help you squeeze into the next dress size!

Plateaus seem to happen when your body has finally gotten used to the new regime. It moves to compensate for the lower calorie intake by slowing down a notch, and reducing your fat loss. Experience from numerous people suggests that the best to break a plateau is to do something different, such as, up your calories a couple hundred, or add some more exercise to your regime. Something different that forces your body to react differently. One tried and true method is to alternative your calorie intake, such as, going up a little for a day or two, and then going back to where you were.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
