amount of food able to eat after fill

Recommended Posts

...uh...what?

you're able to eat more?

Because the swelling caused by the irritation of your fill has receded. Be careful though because you will most likely find that you are more restricted than you think. Proceed with caution!

I have had one fill and that was on 2/29. I am scheduled for my next fill on 4/7. I have felt ready for about 2 weeks because I can eat more now and have not lost weight. Is that my sign it is fill time. I have lost 35 lbs now since sx on 1/22/08. This am I was able to eat 2 eggs and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. Any thoughts?

I can tell you there is no way I could eat 2 eggs and 1/2 cup cottage cheese at one sitting or meal! I could eat 1/2 an egg and maybe a few small bites of cottage cheese and be stuffed! My doc says no more than 1/2 cup food at any meal. He says whatever you can fit into a 1/2 cup scoop is all you should be able to eat. I do think I'm a little too tight, but loosing still....so I'm just suffering through it!

Good luck!

When they say half a cup, does that mean if all the food was squashed down, or like in a puree state equivalent to half a cup? I had half a packet of froxen corn and half a pear for dinner. What do you think?

I guess it depends on the size of the bag of corn! It sounds like you're on the right track. My personal experience is that 1/2 of an apple would fill me up way full. I can't eat any corn! My doctor said in answer to the 1/2 cup amounts, no mashed or smashed in a 1/2 cup, just poured in, sitting in, etc. Not pureed amount but can be, for example: I can have 1/2 cup Tomato Soup for dinner with a couple of croûtons on it -and that's it. Or I can have 1/2 cup of lettuce with dressing and be full--yes 1/2 cup lettuce is like one large leaf chopped up! If I have something like chicken breast, I end up with about 4-5 medium size bites, which would probably fill a 1/2 cup.

Hope this helps, I know everyone is different with what they can eat and how much of it-depending on restriction/fills........I just know my Doctors and nutritionist keep stressing over and over the 1/2 cup max at a time. I've lost 75 lbs, less than a year post.....so the 1/2 cup must be doing something.

I am two months post op - one fill - and can eat WAY more than 1/2 cup - more like a cup and a half.... I go for another fill on the 24th and I'm REALLY going to have to watch what I eat until then....

this part stinks...

This morning I ate 1 and 1/2 turkeysuasage and 1 and 1/2 eggs. I am totally full. I know in order to lose weight I need to be full sooner. I was more restricted at first. I cannot wait for my fill on Monday. I want to lose some serious weight. I did lose really well with my first fill like 23 lbs. The key is going to the dr regulary and keeping on top of it. My dr was on vacation for 3 weeks so I am a little behind. Good luck to everyone

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
