Ramona in Vancouver

Recommended Posts

Anyone else get their fills done by a Nurse in Vancouver named Ramona? Just wondering what peoples experiences have been like with her. I had a few fills with her and each have been 20 minutes of poking around with me in extreme discomfort. She told me my port was flipped but my doctor in Toronto told me it isnt. Just wanting to see if it is my port that was the problem or if she just isnt real good at doing fills!

Kaya. Which Toronto clinic did your band. If it was the SWLC in Toronto, they may be able to give you another name. I go to Dr. R. Woodhead a surgeon in Delta. On the referral from Dr. Yau I was able to see Dr. Woodhead. I had to pay a $400.00 consultation fee and now pay $75.00 per fill. It is a lot cheaper for me than going back to Toronto and I really like him a lot. Hope this helps you a bit. Doddie

Hmm, may I ask who referred you to her? I wasn't aware that there was anyone in Vancouver area (besides the two surgeons Dr. Leung and Dr.Woodhead) who have anything to do with the Band. Just curious :crying:

There is one fill nurse in Vancouver Medical and Dental Building that is on SWLC list. Don't know if her name is Ramona, but I know she does them because she turned me down. Doddie

Yes Ramona was reccomended to me by Dr Cobourn at the SWLC. She is in down town Vancouver. I'll give her this one last try in case my old port was messed up but if this time takes as long or is as painful I think I will try Dr Woodhead. Not too happy about a $400 consultation fee though.

If Ramona messes up again, I would report her to the SWLC. She may need further training and the clinic would want to know that she was representing them properly. As for Dr. Woodhead, his application is lengthy and he does not take on other doctors surgical patients easily. If you decide to go to him and he accepts you, I am sure you will like him. Doddie

:thumbup:If you're up for a ferry ride, the SWLC nurse in Victoria does a great job. I've just had my second fill and wouldn't have know she had done it had it not been for the sensation of liquid travelling through the tube into my band. There wasn't even a pinch as the needle was inserted. You can get her phone number from the SWLC in Toronto.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
